Some subtle eroticism, preferably in everyday situations, simply bring something fresh and pretty to the walls with cheeky charm. Now the days of locker pictures for soldiers are over and there are already enough Playboy bunnies. So I have the plan to gradually approach the topic of "New Pin-Up". As I discovered, however, this is more difficult than I thought. ;-) But how I like to y: "The journey is the reward!" (... ) Some of these images are available as Artprint ©PRINTLER. School´s over! Fly higher... Be mine tonight... Pin-up - First Contact 🙂 Urteile nicht Pin-up feat. Hot Wheels Desiree - Ein erster Versuch :-) In order to embark on "my" pin-up journey, I first did some research on the Internet to find out what is commonly understood by pin-up. Originally, pin-up pictures are those that show women in erotic poses and can be pinned to the wall. Well, basically you can pin any picture to the wall. So what is so special, so different about these pictures? These pictures are often used as calendar pictures and/or printed as double-sided or even large-format, fold-out posters. Before these images were defined as an art form in their own right in the 1980s, they were seen as illustrations. They were used for dime novels and magazine covers. According to Wikipedia, even serious magazines like the Times used pin-up images as covers. So far I have not found any. The postcards of the Austrian painter and illustrator, Raphael Kirchner , in the youth and pin-up style can be seen as an early type of this art form. Pin-up, seen as everyday art, was recognized by a broad section of the population from the 1920s to the 1970s. Through a multitude of postcards, magazine titles, advertising posters, but also on various objects, these depictions were quite suitable as mass effective war propaganda. The rather erotic images were intended to push and spur people on to peak performance. Millions of these pin-up girls populated the lockers of US soldiers during the Second World War. Frank Powolny, a 20th Century Fox photographer, photographed Betty Grable in 1943 as a pin-up girl in swimwear, looking over her shoulder, a mischievous smile on her face. This picture is said to have been the most popular of its kind and iconographic for the time. The film "Pin up Girl", shot by 20th Century-Fox in 1944, benefited from the fame of this picture and its model. During the Second World War, but also during the Korean War, the pin-up scene was given a new direction through "nose art". The United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) liked to paint their fighter planes with pin-up girls as well as comic figures and martial allegories. The design of these ladies was often coordinated with the character that the soldiers ascribed to their meshes. Sometimes the meshes were named after the ladies whose likenesses served as models. Artistically talented members of the USAAF also created their own pictures, which found a new canvas on the back of their flight jackets in order to emphasize their affiliation to "their" airman. The "Memphis Belle " is the most famous aircraft with a pin-up identity . It was a Boeing B-17 bomber of the 8th US Air Fleet, which bombed a total of 25 targets in Germany and occupied France in 1942 and 1943. Even though the classic pin-up girls have largely disappeared, "nose art" is still widespread today, mainly among units on combat missions. My picture "Fly higer - Dream bigger" is one of my first attempts to create a "typical" pin-up picture with DAZ Studio. It is inspired by Dr. Strangelove - or how I learned to love the bomb, 1964 (Stanley Kubrick transforms the threat of nuclear war in the 1960s into a grotesque comedy. The horror only becomes apparent in the humorous exaggeration) and is by no means a particularly creative achievement of its own, but it is a picture on the way to engaging with this genre and for this reason I like it. Pin-up pictures usually show pretty, young women in various, mostly erotic poses. They usually have sentimental, narrative, romantic or patriotic components. The subject is often everyday scenes in which minor misadventures are shown, often with a clear erotic touch. Even if seemingly deep sensual insights are granted, nothing is clearly shown, everything is left to the imagination of the respective viewer. The ladies are usually lightly clothed and only very rarely are they completely or partially naked. In 1951, the Austrian magazine Cocktail published a highly critical review of the pin-up and Hollywood scene. The eroticizing and sexualizing portrayal of these women was divided into two types of women, the US pin-up girls and the Hollywood starlets. While the starlets were considered to have a certain assertiveness and self-confidence in addition to their beauty, the pin-up girls were perceived as sophisticatedly dressed, but otherwise rather hollow and superficial. Both types of women were believed to be able to attract rich men with the help of their openly flaunted beauty, but tended to be denied the skills needed for a down-to-earth, normal marriage. If you want to delve deeper into this socio-critical topic about the new roles of women in the post-war years, you can find out more in the above-mentioned article in Cocktail and the subsequent review 2023 by Clio-online . I am more impressed or inspired by the more recent pictures by photographer Dr. Yvonne Sophie Thöne . She has a doctorate in Old Testament studies, studied theology and has made fashion and portrait photography her hobby since 2018. She has noticed that the women in older and classic pin-up depictions are often portrayed as somewhat clumsy and innocent, something that contradicts today's more feminist image of women. However, the fascination of these vintage images still exists, which I can definitely confirm. Today's women can be anything: nuclear physicists, judges, doctors, firefighters, craftswomen, housewives, bakers and much more. Dr. Yvonnen Sophie Thöne lets women slip into one of these roles in front of the camera, just the way the woman likes it and feels comfortable. Together with the women, she wants to show that it is possible to see life in a funny way and laugh about it. The lightness and colorfulness, the humor that these pictures radiate obviously make pin-up pictures so popular today. During her 10 years as a teacher and researcher, she has read many passages in the Old Testament about love, physicality, hatred, loyalty and the really lively themes of life. She has discovered that the Bible was not necessarily hostile to the body and lust in earlier times, but that this attitude has only been interpreted and unfortunately cemented in this way over the years. She photographs a wide variety of women in bold, colorful and erotic poses. They are physically completely different. In addition to young, slim women, there are older women, rounder bellies, small and large breasts, lots of tattoos and no tattoos. She simply shows a complete cross-section of "fair femininity", who are clearly living their dream of being a glamorous girl for a moment in front of the camera with joy and self-confidence. The naturalness, colorfulness, eroticism, wit and humor appeal to me, fascinate me and have inspired me to create my own pin-ups with the help of DAZ Studio. The different styles such as rockabilly or retro punk as well as the proximity to burlesque also offer 1001 attractions and ideas. I don't have an exact idea, I just let myself be inspired and see where this path takes me ..... For the first time I was able to accompany a street art event photographically from the beginning. That was extremely impressive. Documenting this exciting "making off", supplemented by information about art and artists, is my very personal approach to the topic of street art. I used working titles for some of the images because I haven't been able to research all the titles of the artworks yet. The order in which the pictures tell their story also follows. Until then, the images in the gallery are in any order. Since I don't just take photographs but am also interested in the artists, the backgrounds and the little things on the side, I try to get authentic information about the artists and their pictures. I was able to discuss this personally with most of the artists after the event. Thank you very much for that. If I have taken information from the Internet, I have marked it as such. Streetart I Graffiti I Turbo Urban 2021 I Interview Robert "Opty" Roschwig I Ausstellung I Urbanart Düsseldorf I Kunstpunkt I Streetart Düsseldorf I Kiefernstraße I Kieferngoes40 I Kiefernbleibt I Bilddokumentation Turbo Urban goes Pines 2021 Preview at the Red House (K35) with Robert "Opty" Roschwig return In cooperation with the 40° Urban Art under the aegis of the artist and curator Robert "Opty" Roschwig, artists of urban art come together here with reference to Düsseldorf for an extraordinary event. Where else can you find so many extraordinary street art and graffiti works of art as well as figurative representations and photos in a small space in peaceful co-existence? Thanks to far-reaching and friendly relationships in the scene, big and small, well-known artists and those who want to become one follow the call of Turbo Urban to the Red House and thus give the 40th birthday celebration on Kiefernstraße a very special highlight. Also against the background that this is the first exhibition after 2019 in chaotic times. Thank you to "Opty", who spontaneously agreed to an interview and was able to give me interesting insights into the scene as such and into the exhibition in particular. Question: How did it come about that this exhibition could take place in the Red House? Opty : I have been involved with Kiefernstrasse for about 15 years and feel very connected to it. The last active/personal Turbo Urban Art exhibition was in 2019. From April 20th, 2020 we were forced to move to the virtual space, so to speak "directly from the couch". We were all the more pleased to take up the rather spontaneous opportunity to celebrate the 40th birthday of the Kiefernstrasse. Annotation : So far I have only encountered street art and graffiti art on house walls, train stations, trains etc. Just as art in urban space. New to this topic I had not yet visited an exhibition. But as the saying goes: "The first time is something special." That was definitely what this exhibition was for me, albeit as a preview. Question: What do you mean by spontaneous possibility? Opty: Well, I usually prepare such an exhibition with a lead time of 2-3 months. Here it was just 2-3 weeks. But hey, we got that too. It's a great feeling to finally be able to be live at the pulse of what's happening again. Annotation : In my opinion, putting together a complete exhibition in such a short time and with the usual quality is a sign of great professionalism. When asked about this, Opty nods with a relaxed grin, everything is easy, it works :-). Everyone vaccinated, Corona safety concept is in place, so we can start. Question: How did you end up in the Red House? Opty: The Red House hasn't been used in about 10 years, it was sort of the street's junk room. With the Turbo Urban Gallery, the approx. 100m² are finally being revived. The community of residents will then continue to consider how the Red House can continue to be lived. Annotation : Judging from a conversation among local residents, it's probably not supposed to be a pub anymore .Let's be surprised. Question: Do you have a permanent team and how do the artists come to you? Opty: Of course, the team changes over the years. At the moment Sven and BigB are there and do everything they can to present everything in the best possible way in time for the opening. For years I have been in good, if possible friendly, contact with many street art and graffiti artists, not only from Düsseldorf. He is, so to speak, the interface for all artists and the team. This year there are "magical" 40 artists. 40th birthday on Kiefernstraße, 40° Urban Art Festival and last but not least, the postcode of Düsseldorf starts with a 40...! Annotation : Okay, I wouldn't have come up with the idea of the zip code ;-). Also the fact that here at Opty artists sometimes hang peacefully next to each other, who in real life don't are necessarily friends speaks for the competence of the curator Robert Roschwig, not only in artistic terms. Big artists hang next to small ones, well-known sprayers next to those who might want to become one one day. Some artists are repeat offenders and accompany the Turbo Urbans over a long period of time, but new faces are always there and are easily accepted into the creative community. Question: According to what principle do you hang the pictures? Opty: I/we would like to convey 100% added value to the visitor, ie that as many styles as possible are covered, that there is something for every visitor, young and old, knowledgeable or just curious. There are things that are sprayed, painted and glued, but also photos and sculptures. The "Petersburg hanging ". Also called salon hanging, this type of picture hanging goes back to the St. Petersburg Hermitage. People felt the need to paint and display more and more pictures, for example of family members. Space was cramped and one picture was hung on top of the other .Sometimes the walls were filled up to the ceiling. The viewer should be impressed by the amount of pictures. Despite everything, this type of hanging is subject to a well thought-out principle. I look at all the works of art that are made available in advance and let them have an effect on me. Each artist gets a place of about A2. The compilation then opens up according to topics, gut feeling and intuition. Topics are put together appropriately. In the course of the exhibition it can happen again and again that I wear something that creates new connections. So it doesn't get boring for returning visitors either. You can always come back and discover something new. The exhibition must live! Annotation : I was well aware that you can hang many pictures on a wall. But with the explanation for this particular hanging, I got a different perspective on this. There are not just pictures of different urban artists hanging on the walls, they are also put together with deliberation. There is Rumi's cyclist, who seems to be tired and leans on her bike and looks directly at the picture hanging to her right, at the Fürstenplatz. So the pictures "live" in one, so to speak Symbiosis that is sometimes altered a little by Opty. The exhibition is alive! Question: Are there any special features that are important to you in your exhibition? Opty: At each exhibition there is a guest wall. Here the participating artists can immortalize themselves creatively during the construction phase, if they like. There is no compulsion and no specifications. At a past exhibition, for example, only gray and black tones were sprayed/painted. Here I have provided some colors and asked the artists to bring colors at their own discretion. Oh yes, the goose :-), that's our mascot. annotation : Yes, the exhibition is alive, absolutely. Even if I only notice some of the pictures at home when editing them on the PC. But that's often the case for me and I think it's okay. I would also like to mention the memorial wall, which, as BigB explained to me, should not be missing from any exhibition. Entitled "Rest in Peace", a work by Benni Peacemaker commemorates the companions who have left the common path for good. Question: In a few words, what makes access to graffiti & Co. so interesting for the kids? Opty: Compared to other hobbies, access to graffiti is actually quite easy. Even if you don't have a lot of money, you can always find a spray can or an Edding somewhere. The interest in spray art cuts across all social classes. The kids are also important to us. We are planning to create a total work of art in landscape format with the children's club and to integrate it into the exhibition. A nnotation : In the Kids Club (K21), workshops are held again and again, in which various artists introduce the kids to dealing with colors and art. The beaming faces of the kids speak a clear language. Question: Die Kiefern celebrates its 40th birthday in 2021. You're younger than the pines at 34. How does it feel for you to be able to exhibit here now? Opty: I've been on Kiefernstrasse for around 15 years. I feel a deep, wonderful, sometimes creepy connection with the street, the people and life here on this extraordinary street. Annotation: As a non-Düsseldorfer and still a newcomer to the subject of street art/graffiti, I consider the Kiefernstraße with its houses that have "grown/painted" over a long period of time to be a fixed point in artistic life, not only in Düsseldorf. At least for me it is the starting point for my photo documentation around the themes of urban art. My first pictures were taken here on site ;-) When I'm out and about with my camera, I'm always happy when I find people who want to be photographed. That makes a topic or a report really complete for me. But not everyone who comes in front of my camera allows their picture to be taken, which of course I accept. The deeper reason, on the other hand, I was not really aware of until today. That for many urban artists it is not the recognition of his face that is worth striving for, but that of his tags, his writing, his works. You live the anonymity, comparable to thatBansky Effect . I walk through the city and see pictures that I know whose signature they bear. Alone he could stand next to me and I wouldn't recognize him. Too bad for me but thanks to Opty for the explanation and for the book tip. The book is impressive. You can find the newspaper article here:(...) Add comment: (...) Did you like this report? Well, Ben Mathis enlightened me in a relaxed telephone interview on June 21: This is a typical "The Herrmann Grid", a classic optical illusion. 1/9 This facade has an interesting history, as Ben Mathis also explains to me: The original plan was to design only the first floor. But then the city had completely scaffolded the house and Ben and the residents did not want to miss this opportunity. So a new plan was needed. In the planned design, there was not enough color for the entire facade. With the support of Klaus von Ilusta, an elderly artist who coordinated the cooperation with the cultural office, the SWD and the artists, a slimmed-down version was agreed, which is now shown in different colored pixels. If the internet is to be believed, Mr. von Ilusta still lives at Kiefernstraße 19 and has already helped with the design of houses 1-5. The residents asked for the floating Buddha in return, so to speak, for the fact that the entire facade could now be painted. Ben Mathis actually didn't want it at all, but I think he's managed another great paradox here. A merging of things that don't really belong together. A popular stylistic device of Ben Mathis, which he has acquired in his interesting artistic career. It is not surprising that the perfectionist Ben Mathis took into account the architectural features of the house, such as the pillars, in his design to attract the public. He prefers to work minimalistically, Ben chatted on the phone. As mentioned above, he likes the paradox, the apparently opposite. Here the rigid, correct grid, on the other side the floating Buddha, who may stand for a free spirit. The red dots connected the Buddha to the house, grounded it so to speak, so that it would not float unsupported in free space. According to Ben, such a grid requires relatively little color. He needed 2-3 buckets of primer and 40-50 spray cans for the grid and the Buddha. So this impressive project could be realized with relatively rudimentary means in about 2 weeks. When I asked what pattern one needs for such an event, he explained that the whole thing was quite simple: he used a 70 x 100 cm template. If this were placed accurately, the painting can actually be done quite well in successive work steps. Again got to know a new technique of street art. I believe that there are 1001 interesting options for facade design and I am excited to see which ones I can get to know next. As a designer, illustrator and graffiti artist, Björn von Schulz quickly recognized his passion for figurative drawing and painting As he also had the talent for this style of painting, he quickly gained recognition in the scene. As a founding member of the artist collective and later creative agency "Studio Egotrips", Björn was able to prove his talent and intention. In 2015 he gave up the agency artist's life and embarked on new paths of his own. This allowed him to concentrate fully on his own art, his own "way of art". His art has been on display at home and abroad for over 20 years. Björn has also made a name for himself with various publications. He has only been painting murals and participating in various festivals since 2019. Even though photographing this picture was a bit special again, as I had to block the road from time to time, this picture radiates calm and thoughtfulness for me. The woman, who is no longer quite young, seems to be wearing a kind of "shepherdess" costume. Surrounded by green branches, I perceive a closeness to nature or a return to nature. In 2015, von Schulz left his familiar paths, the agency life, and concentrated fully on his art. He has been exhibiting his work in Germany and abroad for over 20 years now and regularly appears in various publications. Since 2019, there has been an increased focus on wall works and painting at festivals. Quellen: Artist Profile - Bjoern von Schulz - YoungArt, Björn von Schulz , Stadt Bibliothek Rheine 2022 Julia Bethke/Germany - Urban Art Gallery Krefeld 2023 Weiter Tannenstr. 42, 47798 Krefeld (06.-11.08.23) Julia Bethke discovered her creative interest and artistic talent in her youth. It quickly became clear that she would follow this career path. She then completed her training as a stage painter at the Theater & Philharmonie Essen as part of a 3-year apprenticeship, where she learned a wide variety of techniques. Essen is the third location in Germany for this training, alongside Berlin and Baden-Baden. (I love this theater and have seen many performances there over a long period of time and was always impressed by the unconventional, unusual stage and costume design). She completed her compulsory internship at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Duisburg. She was totally "flashed" at the interview when she realized that she would have to learn many new things and techniques in this job. Her enthusiasm and passion for "her art" enabled her to successfully complete this demanding, creative school. She soon realized that the profession of stage painter has long since been just about "swinging brushes", but that larger projects also require manual skills and dexterity and that you always have to get stuck in and lug things around. (...) Huge backdrops and floors often have dimensions that exceed a normal apartment size, which is obviously exactly Julia Bethke's thing, who always goes about her work with perfectionism. Like many creative people, the fact that you can see what you have created is an important factor in her professional fulfillment. The Rheinisches Landtheater Neuss, the Theater Dortmund and the Theater für Niedersachsen in Hildesheim have been further stations in her professional career. As an employee in these theaters, she not only designed stage sets as illusion and imitation paintings, but also gave furniture, floors and walls a new creative outfit. She has also embellished large backdrops with her special style of painting. You can find some impressive examples of her creativity on her homepage . In addition to theater projects, she also shows various interior embellishments with a detailed making off as well as some private paintings. She has been working freelance since summer 2021. In times of the corona epidemic, she took the plunge into the cold water of self-employment and began to develop her own brand. "JueLIEBE" became her creative trademark. She likes the name Juelie, she tells Esther Jansen in the Kredo interview, which her uncle had given her earlier. By adding the first two letters of her surname, she came up with her stage name "JuLIEBE". She loves to create illusions. She is able to recreate tiles, wood, asphalt, rust or marble in a lifelike way. In her opinion, anything you can imagine can be imitated. A very valuable skill in her creative work, in my opinion. Using spray cans, spatulas, rollers and lots of brushes, she now carries out a wide variety of commissioned works, e.g. in schools and restaurants, from the initial idea to the final execution. In this way, she transports the viewer into her own colorful world. In 2021, she left an impressive reminder for nature as part of the Silk City Gallery Krefeld with a contribution about bees. In an interview with Esther Jansen, published in Kredo on 02.09.22, it becomes clear, among other things, that colors and textures are not only her profession but also her vocation. Her home is a reflection of her colorful passion. She has lived in Krefeld with her partner since 2020 and has made Krefeld a little more beautiful in many places with her art. Further details can be found in the Kredo interview from 02.09.22. After emigrating from Israel, she settled in the USA/Houston and found her true calling in painting. Over the years, she has created countless works of art in the USA and all over the world on various media, such as walls, floors, canvases, practically anything that can carry color. She has painted in Western Australia, China, India, Israel, the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain and, of course, Canada and the USA. She speaks fluent English, Hebrew and Spanish. In the course of her eventful career, she has also won many awards and prizes. As the multidisciplinary artist Anat considers herself to be, she is not only able to earn a living with her versatile art, she also participates in national and international street painting and street art festivals. After the Wood Art Gallery in 2015 and the Rhine Side Gallery in 2017, the exceptional artist Anat Ronen will be back at the anniversary Urban Art Gallery in 2023. (... ) Anat weite lesen She brought us a special piece of art. As she told me, she has been collecting orphaned family photos for a while now. Among other things, she buys old photos on eBay that no one is interested in or where there are simply no more descendants. At festivals where she doesn't have to deliver commissioned work, she breathes personality and life into these pictures for a while. By painting these pictures large on walls, they become visible to the viewer. Everyone knows the small moments in such pictures, has perhaps experienced similar ones or remembers their own, almost forgotten encounters and feelings. In this way, the orphaned pictures receive renewed attention and are not forgotten. When I took my photos of the Helios wall a few days ago, similar thoughts crossed my mind. I also have family memories of similar situations. "It's not how long you wait, but who you wait for." (Some like it hot, 1959)" However, I could only really grasp Anats Ronen's intentions after she kindly explained her motives for the Krefeld pictures to me. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Anat once again for her input, which makes her pictures even more vivid. Forgive me for the intense play of light and shadow, which made it impossible to achieve a uniform exposure of her pictures. I actually wanted to take new pictures with fewer shadows at another time, but then decided against it because it is precisely this play of light that gives the pictures a life of their own. My own representation of these pictures has emerged in the course of editing, has been approved by Anat Ronan and shows a little of my perception of her art. Source: Anat Ronan personally Krefeld im Oktober 23 fabio fedele/Italien - Urban Art Gallery Krefeld 2023 Seyffardtstraße - Wand Helios, 47805 Krefeld (06.-11.08.23) Weiter Fabio Fedele was in Krefeld for his first European project since 2017 on the occasion of the Urban Art Gallery 2023 to mark Krefeld's 650th birthday. Fabio explains that it doesn't really matter to him whether he puts his art on the walls of his own front door, the neighbor around the corner or in a distant country. It is important to him what he paints and that this painting is in a good relationship with its surroundings. Corona has changed a lot. International projects mean an enormous amount of energy, work and costs for the artist. Financially, these projects offer no profit, rather the opposite. While he still took part in international festivals about every two years before Covid, he now sees much less incentive to travel to these events. Not least because street art projects are currently springing up like mushrooms. In order to "do his thing", to live his art, he no longer needs to travel internationally. (... ) Fortunately, he received an invitation he couldn't refuse and could be sure of the support of his better half. In Krefeld, the introverted loner was able to work on his art with old friends and make new ones, immortalizing the enchanting world of elves in their natural environment on the dreary wall of Helios Hospital. According to him, he was able to use his stay in the silk city of Krefeld to learn, observe and discover new perspectives. When you hear that the journey back to his Italian homeland took 18 hours, and when you consider the sometimes bad weather during the "painting days", you can empathize with the artist how happy and relieved he was to be back home with his better half and his small human and furry family. A big thank you to the conscious "better half", who was probably instrumental in the fact that we Krefeld residents can now call a whole cheerful elfin family our own. It took 4 pictures to capture all the magical, young, mostly female mythical creatures. They seem to feel very much at home among the magical, colorful flowers and all kinds of creepy-crawlies. Visitors and patients of the Helios Clinic, as well as people hurrying past in Krefeld, can enjoy the magic of the fairy world for a moment, if they can find the time to follow the art of the Italian free spirit. Vita: Fabio Maria Fedele comes from Rovigo, northern Italy, near Venice. There he graduated in "History and Conservation of Architectural and Environmental Heritage", followed by a degree in Architecture. Having discovered his passion for drawing as a child, he developed his skills in many different areas. He has been working as a street artist since 1993 and added the 3D field in 2006. He has achieved the highest artistic titles awarded in Italy. These include "Maestro Madonnaro" in Grazie di Curtatone and "Magister Madomnaris" in Nocera Superiore. Although he mainly works as a street artist in northern Italy, he has also painted in Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and the USA. He also works as an illustrator in archaeological museums. An extremely versatile artist. As the materials used, such as chalk and pastel, were very perishable due to the weather, it has only been possible to preserve these images for posterity since the invention of photography. The cheerful robot at the entrance to the Seidenweberhaus has an easier time of it. For the time being, its preservation is assured, even if it patiently bears the garbage of "forgetful" contemporaries (... ) For some 20 years now, anamorphic street painting has also been making inroads in Italy. This 3D chalk art, now also known as 3D street painting, enhances street painting enormously, as it produces extremely realistic moments. The viewer is automatically drawn into a lifelike scene, most impressively if he or she pays attention to the specific point from which the picture is to be viewed. Here, too, you have to walk back and forth along the wall of the Helios Clinic until you find the perfect spot, hoping that a parked car is not occupying it. Cuboliquido was born in Milan in 1974. He has been making a living from his art since 1992 and discovered his passion for street art in 1994. First as a graffiti artist and later as a traditional Madonnari artist (street painting of traditional Madonna images and religious motifs with pastels). Today, two of his Madonnari artworks are exhibited in a basilica in Bethlehem and in Mexico City. Since 2009, he has focused particularly on anamorphic 3D street painting and has participated in many international street art festivals, where he has won numerous prizes. He has presented his paintings across Europe, in Russia, the USA, Latin America, Thailand, China, the Middle East and South Africa. He has worked for many well-known companies such as Disney, Universal Cinema, Amazon, Coca Cola, Samsung, Unilever, Warner Bros and many more. To date, he has participated as a street painter in over 200 events of various kinds. He is the first artist to combine 3D street painting with animated videos (video mapping) and his work has been shown at three different art biennials and other contemporary art exhibitions. He was awarded the title of Maestro Madonnaro in Grazie die Curtatone and in March 2017 he won first prize in the world's most important competition for 3D street art in Dubai. For the Krefeld Urban Art Festival 2023, he has conjured up a powerful, jumping horse with an Amazon on the wall above the Krefeld restaurant "Schümli". After the first photos I took there and a very nice, if unfortunately not very informative conversation with the team and guests of the Schümli, I got some information about his art from Ruben himself. A big thank you to Ruben at this point. Ruben doesn't give an explanation of his painting as he doesn't want to make a specific statement for the viewer. Instead, he approaches a new work of art more intuitively by familiarizing himself with the ground that is to be painted, looking at the people, the neighbourhood and the city. He looks to see if there are any local stories, myths or similar that can give him a feeling for the wall. He himself calls his painting "Hope & Liberty". As he likes action very much, he has chosen a jumping horse here. A horse jumps in a fraction of a second. Ruben wanted to bring this effect of frozen time, the paused moment, closer to the viewer. The horse was quickly given a rider, in this case a female rider. It is possible that the Lorelei legend inspired him to create this lady, but it could also be a classic depiction of a female figure with a torch, which could stand for independence and freedom. But as Ruben says, the interpretation is up to the viewer. He is interested in the action and a source of light that gives the picture an "inner light" and a feeling outside of reality. (... ) Ruben Poncia paints graphically, not photorealistically. He paints with brushes and creates the shapes of his pictures through the direction of his brushstrokes. The physical nature of the wall and the surroundings are largely decisive for his works. He creates his sketches in black and white, the colors are then supposed to blend in with the surroundings. When I post-processed my photos, the colors seemed a little pale and dark. After reading about Ruben's working methods and looking at the wall again, I now perceive the colors as absolutely fitting into the surroundings. As the time that artists have for a painting is limited, a project like this quickly becomes a sport. The artist's ideas, his own physical condition and the changing weather make the whole thing a challenge. In addition, there is the operation of the lift, sufficient fuel and whatever else may be required. The artist gives his all every day to stay on schedule. In his email to me, Ruben thanks the Krefeld team once again, who, like all the other artists, gave him great support in all matters. He also had fond memories of the people in the neighborhood. He had to fetch a bucket of water from the "Schümli" a few times, was warmly welcomed there and was happy about any kind of communication with people passing by. Some complimented him, some probably expressed negative opinions. But for Ruben Poncia, all of this falls under satisfactory communication. And so, in my opinion, street art has done its job of creating art in public space for the public. While I was photographing, people kept coming to see what I was doing, only to see the picture they hadn't seen before. These brief moments of communication are also important to me, as they are always a contact with the outside world, however brief. He works freelance in the fields of wall art, decoration, illustration, fine art and graphic design. This is Jabi's first time at a street art festival in Krefeld and he has chosen an extremely "hot" time for his painting. Even though you would expect a native Spaniard to be relatively tolerant of heat, I was able to see for myself how exhausting it was to work in these temperatures. His painting for Krefeld is entitled "Arantxa eta Agustín, beti gogoan". According to the artist, it is a tribute to his aunt Arantxa and his uncle Augustin, whose ashes the family laid to rest under a gingko tree planted especially for them. Hands in many variations and connections or touches. Having started painting in 1995, Chase Maclaim has exhibited his work in more than 20 countries. In these countries, he leaves behind his very personal, powerful handshake. His corresponding hands leave the impression that movement and at the same time unity are symbolized by these very hands. Chase wants this interference to be perceived not only on a physical level, but also in the social and political sphere. He uses these hand gestures, which are understood by everyone, to clarify his intentions. It is often the gesture that says more than 1000 words. His hands, or rather his hand gesture for Krefeld, are borrowed from sign language and, if you look at these hands from top to bottom, stand for the term "home". He sees the uniqueness of hands, hands that connect people. With this campaign, he wants to draw attention to the limitations of physically impaired citizens. He once painted a wheelchair user looking down at passers-by. After this gesture was positively received by the wheelchair user, he really became aware of the relevance of this topic. The owners, who in my opinion have experienced great added value for their properties as a result of this campaign. Despite the supposedly summery season, the artists and their teams had to contend with adverse, i.e. wet, conditions from time to time. However, during my photo tours in glorious weather after the end of the campaign, there was no sign of this. On the contrary, I sometimes had to contend with a little too much sun in front of the lens. Since 20 artists have created a lot of art and I want to treat each subject with a certain amount of care, I will upload the pictures here one by one, without taking into account the date of creation, with a little background information. Contrary to my original plan to upload all the pictures in one gallery, I have decided to create a separate section for each artist for a better overview, which can then be selected individually in the menu. As I sometimes find simply taking photographs too boring and many other photographers do the same, I sometimes allow myself to interpret the images myself. This is actually very much in the spirit of urban art, namely interpreting it according to your own ideas. Just let the pictures have an effect on you. I have linked the Instagram accounts under the artist's name. Finally, a note on copyright. Graffiti I Streetart I Silk City Gallery 2021 I Seidenweberhaus Krefeld I Martini Pitture I Daniela Lazazzara I Beuys I Lifstye street art - Martino Pitture & Daniele Lazazzara/Italiy return Martino Anfang "Untitled" Martin: Facebook * Instagram Daniele: Facebook * Instagram Already on the stairs to the 1st floor you can see the strong blue tones of the Italian artists Martino Pitture & Daniele Lazazzara from Italy. You can find more information about the images below. (...) Artist information (...) Annotation: In this picture, the fascination for me at first came from the color "blue". This color dominated from day one and I kept scurrying by to see how the work would develop. In addition, two things particularly fascinated me. On the one hand, there were the exaggerated proportions of the two figures on the right. On the other hand, it was the kangaroo that, although it matched the two figures harmoniously with its coloring, was more angular and futuristic in style. However, the powerful image effect only became apparent after the removal of the scaffolding. Where am I looking? What does the rabbit mean? Questions upon questions I asked the two artists after the event. According to the artists themselves, the basic idea for their picture is nature and interpersonal relationships. The complexity of the interaction between nature and man should be presented. Daniele wants to bring people into the cities with his oversized kangaroo. The animals enliven a concrete landscape and Beuys will find (his) place in the kangaroo's belly. So far, Daniele provides his own idea, since the two actually want to encourage the visitor to write their own story. They specify individual elements, such as the rabbit. The rest is up to the viewer's imagination. I catch myself finding new ways of interpreting it the more often I look at the picture in the Seidenweberhaus or on the PC. For me, this picture is a very active picture, not only because I delved deeper into Beuys' life, but also because the two artists spoke very friendly and openly about their pictures. Martinos You can find verbatim explanations of his picture in the short interview below. According to the artists, the picture does not have a title, but it can be seen as a successful homage to Beuys. Short interview Martino & Daniele: Martino Pitture :"Hello Kerstin. The idea of the painting arose on a purely aesthetic level from Beuys' performance in which he showed pictures to a dead rabbit. But the core of my reflections concerns the human tendency to place themselves at the center of every thought. So I wanted to split up the characters by creating two symmetrical characters, the first of which has the live animal's point of view showing the world to a human skull. Then I like to give symbolic references in all my works without explicitly formulating a message, in order to leave room for interpretation. The stories the viewer makes up are often more interesting than those contained in the work." Question: Are the exaggerated proportions a sign of your special style or is the overly long neck of the figure on the right supposed to say something special? Yes, the characters in my oil paintings usually have these proportions. I try to combine aesthetic beauty with wrong proportions. Source: Martino Pitture personally Daniele Lazazzara: "The rabbit and the skull are the work of the great Martino Pitture. My drawing represents a surreal kangaroo, this animal protects the young in nature, in this case the kangaroo protects the structure and therefore the mystery of these spaces in others dimensions" Daniele is also a tattoo artist. On the left side there were 19 dressing rooms, in the middle of the room there was a long table with chairs, on the right side there were washbasins. The coffered barrel vault gives the room size and presence. After 20 years of slumber, this once magnificent relaxation room of the old Roman-Irish steam bath served as a castle for the Schlaraffia Crefeldensis e*. But nothing lasts forever and so one day the lords had to conquer a new castle. Relocation from the old Krefeld Stadtbad to "Et Klöske" At the beginning of the 2nd millennium there was a plan to establish a noble Italian restaurateur for the relaxation room of the former Roman-Irish bath in order to improve the reputation of the building. That didn't work out in the end, but the creative knights still had to look for a new place to stay, for a new castle. The "Et Klöske" in Krefeld-Uerdingen, which was also getting on in years, was first mentioned in 1403 as the "Zum Sankt Michael" hospital and has since had a varied historystory looking back was apparently looking for a new owner at the time. The city needed money and thanks to good connections, negotiations with the Krefeld men's league could begin. There should be long negotiations at the end of which you can decide on a purchaseleasehold could agree. So the Schlaraffen pay 25 years to the city. The city is still registered in the land register, but Schlaraffia Crefeldensis eV has the status of owner and is responsible for the building. But first of all there was an extensive restoration and consideration of monument protection aspects, which the brave knights managed to do on their own. At that time, the city valued the costs incurred at DM 250,000, of which around DM 130,000 was labor costs. These costs were partly made available by the members. Approximately 70% later waived the complete repayment of the loan. From my point of view, it is a sign of the well-founded, sustainable cohesion of the men's association that it sees itself as a community that cares for each other and not just as a "fun club". More BEING than APPEARING. The skylights of the relaxation room and, after consultation with the monument protection, also the magnificent ceiling chandelier, which the knight's hall in "Et Klösken" at thekinships * certainly appears in a wonderfully warm light and gives a little romantic chivalrous mood in this listed former hospital. Particular attention is paid to the sacco painting in the apse. In order to protect the sensitive painting, Makrolon panels were placed in front of it. The missing parts of the painting were copied as authentically as possible by an artist. The knights of Schlaraffia Crefeldensis have found a new worthy castle, a home, in Uerdingen am Rhein with the historic building of "Et Klöske". Story: In 1859 theater people, artists and writers founded the men's association Schlaraffia in Prague. After the director of the Deutsches Theater, Franz Thomé, tried to introduce a young bass player named Albert Eilers to the Prague artists' association "Arcadia", this request was rejected. Because of his poverty, he was considered a proletarian. Court singers and actors did not belong to higher society at that time. The men's association Schlaraffia was brought into being as a pastiche of the elite men's clubs of the 19th century . They mocked the very authoritarian society with deliberate satire and parody and made fun of it. They shifted their terminology to the 16th century and became knights, squires and squires. Officially there is no connection to the Freemasons, one clearly distinguishes oneself from the carnival associations. The term Schlaraffen is based on the Middle High German word “slur-affe”, which means mischievous prankster/joker (16/17 century) but also carefree connoisseur. In 1859 the first Cockaigne Club was founded in Prague, which at that time still belonged to the Danube Monarchy. The propagation of the Schlaraffen took place by so-calleddaughter reyche * instead of. In the years 1938/39 the clubs in which many Jews were members were banned in Germany and Austria. In Switzerland and overseas continued to be foundkinships * instead of. After the end of the Second World War, the club system revived and there were a few new foundations. According to statements by the gentlemen from Krefeld, the originally high level of educational demands on the members has been put into perspective somewhat over the past 30 years. General: To this day, men of all professions as well as professional artists and arm artisans have access to this association. There are around 270 Schlararaffen clubs worldwideReyche* named, who adhere to the same rules and procedures. The worldwide language is German. The approximately 11,000 members hold friendly values very high, they are extremely tolerant and friendships can be cultivated worldwide. The Schlaraffen speak German all over the world. The whole of the Reyche is thateagle owl * With the Schlaraffen everyone can live out their creative passion and just have fun. Emerging from the ranks of the actors, who mostly had engagements in the winter months, the weekly meetings took place and take place in the winter months (wintering *) (01.10.-30.04. northern hemisphere, 01.04.-30.10. southern hemisphere) instead. In the summer, events also take place with the women and children. The weekly meetings will bekinships * named. Characterized by a medieval-romantic atmosphere, knighthood is parodied and "man" can escape his everyday life for a moment in the game. The Schlaraffenburg is decked out in the style of a knight's hall, and the members dress in knightly fashion during their meetings. eachReych * has its own costume here in its own colors. Black, gold and blue are the colors of the local Cockaigne. The swords are mostly made of wood. They give themselves fancy names, but they are not just made up out of thin air, but always have a charming, sophisticated reference to the person and their idiosyncrasies or preferences. For example, the inner cockerel is called "Ritter Binschon vom bömisch Glase" because he (Rochus von Meyrswalden) already has a real knight's title. The dress code is a "neat" outfit with a tie. The knight's cloak is worn over it. A knightly headgear and a wooden sword complete the outfit. If you look at photos, you can see here and there quite colorful trousers or somewhat more profane shoes. Real daily life is not completely suppressed. As mentioned at the beginning, the aim and motto of the association is:The art of enduring friendship with humor. Politics and religion are in thekinships * deliberately left out. A Schlaraffe approaches his fellow knights with a positive basic attitude and organizes the evenings together with a wink, i.e. not with animal seriousness. So that an order can be maintained, the Oberschlaraffe is considered infallible. The weekly evenings are experienced as a cheerful knightly game and consist of different creative presentations. This can be a musical presentation, a recited poem that does not necessarily have to come from your own pen. A discussion can also be initiated, which does not necessarily have a deeper meaning, but is similar to an exchange of blows according to fixed rules, similar to a duel in a figurative sense. The vivid descriptions ofKnight Binscho n there is a knight who is able to spontaneously lead a heated discussion in rhymes. That was amazing for me, because I went into this interview without any precise ideas or expectations. This is how the statement of theintelligent nonsense , which the knights have written on their flag, for me as an outside woman an easily understandable meaning. One likes to practice the art of beautiful words. The speech duel begins with atit for tat *, you symbolically throw the glove in front of the opponent's stomach. The topic is determined by the Oberschlaraffe and the speech and counter-speech takes their creative, sometimes certainly eloquent course. According to the gentlemen, it can come from "stick to stick" and back again. The main thing is that there are no arguments and that fun and joy in beautiful words and intelligent nonsense are not lost sight of. The winner of the speech duel is determined at the end by the Oberschlaraffen. "The Golden Ball" has to fly, which means that as many cockerels as possible are included in the creative process, be it verbal or musical. The motto "Everyone can, nobody has to" applies. Own works are called fencing*, works by other authors are lectures. Anyone looking for the exacttypical course of a sipping * interested, read here. As a Cockaigne you are a welcome guest in every Reych in the world. Sassen with jobs that involve traveling have contact points in many places and can travel to the local as guest routeskinships * take part. You then ride there and are received by the local warriors with raised swords, the tunnel. I was impressed by the men's statements as to why the meetings and life as a member of a/this men's association is so important to them. Above all, it is the social component that keeps the gentlemen together. Naturally, there is a high proportion of seniors who live in theirReych * experience a community that gives each of them the attention and respect that is so important for humans. Many a widowed or single gentleman finds adequate social contacts here in a protected space. Anyone can present something, but does not have to. At the end of the lecture there is a badge (called "ancestors" in Cockaigne language) and a handshake as recognition. What happens when a cockerel on the rostra (lectern) falls in love with his fencing or lecture too much and runs out of time? Quite simply, he is given a large pair of scissors, beholdpicture series , the word literally “cut off” and he must stop immediately, also must not be offended. That's part of the silly game. The attention of everyone, however, is certain to be given to the speaker, and he is also shown respect and deference. The creative "machinations" certainly encourage the gentlemen to improve their skills in playing the piano, etc., in order to be able to continue to fox*` in a happy atmosphere. Even those who are older don't rest like that for a long time. The gatherings were sorely missed, especially during the pandemic. Since most men should now be vaccinated due to their age, they can, of course, in compliance with the current hygiene ruleskinships * take place again. In my opinion, this shows again that the motto "BEING more than APPEARANCE" applies here and not the other way around, as is often the case with "Appearance than being". Women: If you are wondering why there are no women in this game, you have to keep two reasons in mind. On the one hand, the jousting takes place true to the medieval template. There the women did not play a "role" in the knight games. The second reason can be seen in the value of friendship among men. To put it simply, friendship between men is different, perhaps easier without the female component. The men are not distracted in their game and cannot become rivals for the favor of a fair damsel. You don't have to worry about how your actions might affect the lovely femininity, who might come across better. However, women are not fundamentally excluded from the events. The value of the female environment is definitely seen. Therefore, soon after the founding, it was included in the statutes that in thewintering * a clanship with women of the castle has to take place. Also at many other festivals in thesummer sun G * Not only women, but also families are welcome. During this visit, I saw a very lively, intellectually demanding group of men. An association in which human and social values such as friendship and humour, but also tolerance and respect are lived and upheld. They may appear a little gaudy and whimsical to the casual observer, but I'm sure this club has an appropriate value in our fast-moving world. Schlaraffia Crefeldensis eV celebrated its 100th birthday in 2013. My report is intended to convey a personal impression as an outsider and perhaps arouse curiosity about the values that are represented there. But he is far from treating the subject comprehensively and conclusively. There are enough other sources here to deal comprehensively with the topic. For me, however, it was an exciting experience, above all because I was treated with respect and openness as a completely unknown person. In my opinion, that only speaks for the Schlararaffen! -Samara Blue/Kerstin Ellinghoven These adorable little fellows, which belong to the tree squirrel genus, are extremely versatile creatures. They can use their bushy tails to provide themselves with shade and to keep warm in the cold. Most of the 29 species live on the American double continent, only 4 species are native to the Old World and these are distributed throughout Europe and as far as Asia. They all have a white belly and the colour of their fur depends on the colour of the trees around them. They are commonly known to feed on seeds and nuts. However, there are said to be some opportunists that also enjoy insects, eggs and chicks. However, no one seems to hold it against them that they also rob nests in these cases. At home, they build up to 4-5 boxes in which they also raise their young. During the mating season, the ‘ladies’ allow themselves to be wooed by willing ‘gentlemen’ and decide for themselves who they ultimately grant their favour to. These interesting facts are only a small part of what there is to say about these cute creatures. Why don't you give them and yourself the pleasure of looking around through their eyes? Jump with them from tree to tree, feel how they glide through the air, how it smells in your forest where you are raising the next generation and teaching them everything they need to know about life. In the end, it's nothing more than what human parents do. -Samara Blue/Kerstin Ellinghoven Made with DAZ I No Ki I Postwork Paintshop & div. -Samara Blue/Kerstin Ellinghoven What might they never have tried before? Probably something exciting or at least something fun or even forbidden. Otherwise it would be boring and Pippi Longstocking was never boring. When we watch baby animals, whether at the zoo, at home or on the internet, we always enjoy the funny games, the sometimes clumsy attempts to climb up somewhere, search for or catch something. Pure joy of discovery, hardly any fear or reservations. If a friend joins them, it's even more fun. Best friends forever? When did we lose this childlike joy of discovery? When did we become supposedly serious and sensible and lose a bit of fun and impartiality in the process? Why not take a look at the world through the big eyes of a curious baby animal? Discover the exciting, still unknown world together with it like children and conquer it in its own way? Maybe then it will be a little easier for us humans to treat nature and ALL living creatures with respect. -Samara Blue/Kerstin Ellinghoven Made with DAZ I No Ki I Postwork Paintshop & div. -Samara Blue/Kerstin Ellinghoven How easily malice, hatred and falsehood can be hidden behind enchanting beauty. In the daily battle to be more beautiful, smarter and richer, we often lose sight of the truth, the essentials, the real thing. We allow ourselves to be dazzled by what others exemplify and define as desirable. Cheekiness and falsehood as a means to an end. Perhaps we should occasionally take a look through the eyes of the snake, an ancient symbol of falsehood and manipulation, in order to recognize the dangers lurking around us and rethink our values and our actions before we allow ourselves to be swept away in the maelstrom of false dreams. On the other hand, the snake is also a living creature of this earth and has its place in the community of humans and animals. A look through their eyes as living creatures can allow us humans to see the very different habitats and survival skills of these fascinating reptiles and thus perhaps ensure that we feel less fear towards these animals through more knowledge. -Samara Blue/Kerstin Ellinghoven Made with DAZ I No Ki I Postwork Paintshop & div. -Samara Blue /Kerstin Ellinghoven The rainforest along the Amazon is home to around 1,000 species of exciting frogs with bright colours, huge eyes and imaginative patterns. Fabulously striking specimens of the animal world. Some are transparent, others highly poisonous. They live in the water, on the ground in the rainforests or on the huge trees that grow there. They range from tiny to quite large. They can breathe not only through their lungs, but also through their skin. This is why they always need water in their habitat so that their skin does not dry out. As with the tree climbing frogs, the skin on their backs can also contain their poison and be released at the slightest touch by an enemy. As small as they are, as different and beautiful they are, true masterpieces of nature. They certainly like to lend us humans an eye to let us take a look at their habitat, their part of Mother Nature, and to make us curious about what else there is to know about these fascinating creatures. -Samara Blue /Kerstin Gerd Ellinghoven Made with DAZ I No Ki I Postwork Paintshop & div. Dieser sorgt für die Stabilität, sodass sie sogar im Schlaf stehen können. Für das Stehen auf beiden Beinen hingegen müssen sie aktiv Muskelkraft aufwenden. Flamingos sind entgegen dem Glauben, dass sie nur in tropischen Gebieten vorkommen, in nahezu allen Gebieten der Erde zu finden. This provides stability so that they can even stand while sleeping. To stand on both legs, on the other hand, they have to actively use muscle power. Contrary to the belief that they only occur in tropical regions, flamingos can be found in almost all areas of the world. These are qualities and abilities that we humans could learn a thing or two from. Well, having a wolf as a friend may not be realistic. I wouldn't be able to get much out of crows' food myself, but the point of what we could learn from crows may have become clear. -Samara Blue/Kerstin Ellinghoven Made with DAZ I No Ki I Postwork Paintshop und div. A small picture at St. Antonstr. Easy to miss. But very interesting when you hear about its meaning. Artist info (...) Annotation: Alina's picture was something special for me. Located on St. Anton Strasse, it was completely covered by scaffolding through the company sign. That's why I only became aware of it during the week. All I could see was an intense red color and I couldn't really see anything. Despite all my attempts, I couldn't take any sensible photos of the "making off" with me. Following this action, Alina was kind enough to provide me with detailed information about her painting including some photos. For me, these were insightful conversations with Alina Orav, who is remarkably multilingual with English, Estonian, Italian and Russian. We then agreed in English. I decided to reproduce the conversation 1:1 here in the hope that this would best explain what Alina said about her artwork. I will go into more detail on one or the other in the series of pictures, even if this makes the report a little more extensive. This little work of art deserves it! Especially at heart I want the home page der put. It documents the extreme versatility of the still young artist, who is not only concerned with street art. The title of the picture comes from the artist herself. A very big thank you to Alina for her support. I value that as appreciation for my projects :-). * * * Alina Info Alina Orev to her picture Alina 08/05/2021: As you can see in the last photo - the black frame or border is part of the work. Also the windows of the upper floor continue the black frame... There are portals in other portals that are represented in the architecture of the building. Alina 08/05/21: There is also a precise vantage point from which I can photograph my work. It's across the street from the white footprints. You can also zoom in (depending on the camera). But the important part of the work is also above the painting. I play with the architecture of the existing building. Alina 08/10/21: I admire the geometric architecture of the silk weavers house. The line where the architecture ends and my painting begins is optically merged. The painting continues the architecture. The shape of the building from a bird's-eye view is reminiscent of a step pyramid, which adds a lot of historical context. Following this idea, I have depicted portals within portals on the surfaces of the structure. The painted image can be perceived as a counterpart to the step pyramid. According to Carl Gustav Jung, houses in dreams can represent the psyche of the person who perceives them. In this sense we have reached the inner child - the heart of the building - fragile, immaterial, almost fading into the wall of its heavy, robust, physical, protective concrete temple. * * * Questions to Alina 08/10/21 as a supplement to her explanations Question: Do you have a title for your picture or did I miss it somewhere? ;-) Yes. The title is "Reduplication of input". I interpret the title to mean that Alina fitted her painting into the structure of the building's facade, so to speak, and thus created a new, additional entrance. Question: A remarkably sensitive and thorough explanation of your image. I'll have to keep that in mind a few more times as I edit. I also found it fascinating that your picture was the only one that could only be seen properly after the scaffolding was removed. My feeling is that you hid while painting until everything was finished. I don't think that was on purpose, was it? Alina : Yes, the scaffolding situation was given. It was not planned. I myself first saw the work from the photos when the scaffolding was being dismantled. That's why I would be very happy about photos of the work. Question: Can you also tell me something about what the baby is holding? and what does the red ball a little to the left mean? Alina: "The baby is holding a small blue sphere in his hand. If a tunnel is a void, then a sphere is a round object that can be given different meanings depending on the context. The red ball is set in motion by the handrail of the stairs. The red ball is painted red similar to the child. Therefore, they could be related. They also create horizontal movement in the composition of the painting. The ball that the child is holding is of a similar color to the vertical cavities. Therefore, they too may be related or have a similar origin. The blue parts of the painting (including the blue sphere) create vertical movement in the composition. The sphere could also be interpreted as floating in the air due to its vaporous halo." Question: I heard that you recently became a mother :-). maybe it has something to do with your choice of subject? Alina: "The motherhood experience definitely influenced my decision to paint the child." One more thing about the child: if the building is a dream house, then the baby is a fragment of it. It is a symbol of new beginnings, birth of new ideas and also refers to future human generations. Meanwhile in the context of a human psyche - it could be a movement in the opposite direction - back to our childhood, the encounter with our own inner child. However, if the building is demolished, the baby will symbolize the inevitable passage of time - growing up. Also erasing memories."
