Artist info (...) Infos Fabio Annotation: For me, this picture was not easy to photograph. That's why the photos don't have a really good quality. I apologize for that. But because I was very fascinated by this work of art, I tried different sections and perspectives. I gave the title of the picture myself because I had no other information. As I was working on this, the questions below ran through my head. Fabio Fedele was kind enough to answer them. Thanks a lot for this. My question to Fabio why he portrayed the old man with wings t: "The wings are symbolism to make the character transcendent. Angels belong to a religious or New Age context, the wings on humans belong to a secular or pagan symbolic context. The old man has wings because he's not human , but the embodiment of the idea of time. And we know that time flies." My first thought was that the blue color symbolizes water: "Blue is a melancholic color, it does not represent water but the sky." The old man is holding an old stone with a picture of a fish skeleton: "The fossil represents an imaginary tropical fish. It doesn't represent the decay of nature. It represents the decay of human expectations, human presumption, but also our simple life, our honest feelings. Everything that is important to us becomes shortly after our death disappear. It is a reflection on the vanity of our existence. Nature will go on undisturbed even after our extinction." My question about the possible reference to current natural disasters: "I'm aware that meteorological disasters and bereavement are a significant concern at this time, but I didn't take them into account in this work. I admit you can see it there, which would make it even more welcome, but that's what I had to do unfortunately not thought of in the design phase." Artist and picture information Fabio Maria Fedele Fabio: "The building will be destroyed and with it our paintings. The old man represents time and is holding a fossil. The fossil represents what we will leave behind in our future. Like the building and the works, our life will be destroyed, and what remains of it, of our feelings, of our actions, will be small and unexpected to us." Thank you, Fabio, for explaining your picture for Krefeld. Source: Pabio Fedele personally * * * Fabio Maria Fedele studied architecture as well as the history and preservation of architectural cultural assets. In 1993 he started street painting as a Madonnari artist and since 2006 3D street painting has also been part of his repertoire. He has won numerous prizes at international street painting festivals and has painted in Italy, Croatia, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Arab Emirates and the USA. In Italy he was awarded the highest titles for his street paintings: "Maestro Madonnaro" in Grazie di Curtatone and "Magister Madomnaris" in Nocera Superiore. In addition to street painting, he also works as an illustrator for archaeological museums. His art is based on drawings that depict his flow of thoughts, which he likes to improvise. The location of the painting is an important source of inspiration for his mostly figurative paintings, in which he also likes to play with geometric shapes and decorations as compositional elements. For him, decorations are an expression of his constantly changing imagination and elevate his art to a pure, sensual and aesthetic concept. He likes to build contradictions into his artworks, which symbolize the boundlessness of the art of self-manifestation. “Images are very important to me because they serve as a means of communication and can transport many messages at the same time. I think it's the artist's job not only to create beautiful, communicative images, but also to teach the public how to look at art properly. Figurative art is a language. Understanding them helps us better understand the world and appreciate the things we see. In my eyes, art is based on natural aesthetics, which is why the artist has to study and observe for a long time in order to know the laws of nature. Being an artist is a serious business that cannot be mastered on the fly. For me, art is not a hobby, but a science that finds its best teachers in nature itself and in one's own sensory perception." Streetart I Silk City Gallery I Seidenweberhaus I Krefeld I Sibtikus I Vanessa und Lydia Hitzfeld I 3D Streetpainting I Streetart Photography street art - Vanessa and Lydia Hitzfeld/germany The Sibticus, or there is always a way out Anfang Octopus return youtube Vanessa: Instagram Lydia: Facebook * Homepage The pink Sibticus not only wraps around the building with its 7 tentacles, it also inevitably casts a spell over people. Artist information (...) Artist information Vanessa and Lydia Hitzfeld Infos Hitzfeld Annotation : An oversized octopus, or rather, one7-armed sibticus by Vanessa and Lydia Hitzfeld seems to wriggle out of the dilapidated silk weaver's house and enclose the whole building with his arms. Does he want to crush it, destroy it, as the "city fathers" decided to do in the near future? This creature with its intense pink/purple tones, which extends over all 5 floors that are set back, does not really appear threatening. Rather, it seems to invite people. Inviting you to the center of the house, where art meets people. Or rather, would hit if we let ourselves go. For me, this means young and old people, Krefeld and visitors and also those who I perceive as "people from Theaterplatz". That doesn't mean that I have to approve of what's happening there. It means that I/we/you don't look away, but perceive. That also belongs to Krefeld. During what felt like 1001 photo tours to the Seidenweberhaus, I got into conversation with many different people. Among other things, many older people were very interested in the various works of art and a short conversation about them. By the way, I got the tip for the best place to take photos from a "scene person" ;-). This particular point of view is necessary to the thananamorphic painting to be able to perceive the designed picture as a whole. In order to be able to accomplish this mammoth project, the artists had to "guide" each other, ie the person painting was told over the radio where exactly the lines had to be. The two artists received support from some colleagues who had already completed their own works. An impressive achievement that the artists spontaneously put together and completed! You can find out how the kitty made it into the picture in the series of pictures :-). * * * Vanessa Hitzfeld studied fine art and restoration at the art academy in Lage/Westphalia, began training as a glass painter in Derrik's glass painting workshop in Kevelaer and studied fine art at the art academy in Düsseldorf, specializing in painting. There she was a student of Jörg Immendorf. After his death she was a student of Markus Lüpertz and later a master student of Thal Rosenzweig. At the Düsseldorf Art Academy, she developed her own style of painting in oil and mixed media on canvas. She took part in group and individual exhibitions in museums and galleries in, for example, Koblenz, Moers, Düsseldorf and Wuppertal. She also took part with her art in several auctions of paintings by selected artists in the K20 as part of the "Night of the Museums" in Düsseldorf. During her studies in Düsseldorf she became a self-employed street artist. Her street painting has accompanied her since childhood and has no recognizable connection to her work on canvas. While Vanessa as a young girl painted more classic street paintings with pastel chalk, today she has specialized in the creation of 3D street art on floors and walls as an independent entrepreneur. She also designs scenery, exhibition stands, facades, interiors and gives workshops. You can find her work at many international festivals, in shopping centers or amusement parks. She has won numerous awards and prizes in national and international competitions and has also made an entry in the Guinness Book of Records with an XXL 3D street painting in teamwork with Gregor Wosik and Lydia Hitzfeld, among others. Since 2020 she has been working on a new project with an artist friend. "Photography meets painting". Her photographs of body painting work have been published in Vouge Portugal, People Huts and Allure Korea. Source: official information ofcity Krefeld created by Freddart Streetpainitng Lydia Hitzfeld began street painting in 2004. She learned this form of art as an autodidact. In the meantime, the freelance artist is in demand overseas and in Europe as a street painter and, in addition to classic street painting, is also active in advertising and illusionistic 3D painting. In 2012, together with Gregor Wosik and Vanessa Hitzfeld, among others, she created the world's largest three-dimensional street painting with "Noah's Ark". A few years later she was part of the team that set another world record for the largest 3D street painting on the floor in the USA. In addition to many successful participations in competitions in Germany, she also took part in the oldest, traditional street festival "Incontro national dei madonnari" in Grazie/Italy, where she received several awards. She loves to create the pictures on the street, while doing so to feel how delicate skin can be, how heavy a wrinkle, how hard a light, how an eye comes alive. To see how a three-dimensional canyon develops under your own hands and people stop in front of the pictures and are amazed and unbelievable enjoy it or become part of the picture. Street painting has become an integral part of her life and it is impossible to imagine life without it. When she reaches for paint, she steps out of everyday life into the fascinating world of art and takes the viewer into another Dimension. Streetart I Graffit I Streetartist I Seidenweberhaus I Silk City Gallery 2021 I Krefeld I 3DStreetart I Madonari Art I Love Street art - Cuboliquido/Italy "My heart is all yours " return Anfang Honigwabe youtube Facebook * Homepage* Instagram Artistic interplay or the joy of the little things in life.(...) Artist information Cuboliquido Cuboliquido tells that since the 16th century, Italian street painters have been roaming the country to attract people's attention with expressive, sacred pictures in front of the churches. Since the materials used, such as chalk and pastel, were very perishable due to the weather, it has only been possible to preserve these images for posterity since the invention of photography. It's easier for the cheerful robot at the entrance to the silk weaver's house. For the time being, its preservation is assured, even if it patiently bears the rubbish of "forgetful" contemporaries. Anamorphic street painting has also been finding its way into Italy for about 20 years. This 3D chalk art, now also known as 3D street painting, greatly enhances street painting, producing extremely realistic moments. The viewer is automatically drawn into a lifelike scene, most impressively when paying attention to the specific point from which the image must be viewed. For his (Heart)ly robot, cuboliquido combined his passion for robots with 3D painting. He is often inspired by everyday objects that he perceives in his environment. They can then playfully combine the everyday with/to urban art. Here in Krefeld, two old, demolished mailboxes were the starting point for a funny robot. Source: cuboliquido.com, Wikipedia, freddart.de * * * Cuboliquido was born in Milan in 1974. He has lived from his art since 1992 and in 1994 he discovered his passion for street art. First as a graffiti artist and later as a traditional Madonnari artist (street painting of traditional Madonna images and religious motifs with pastel chalk). Today, two of his Madonnari artworks are on display in a basilica in Bethlehem and in Mexico City. Since 2009 he has particularly focused on anamorphic 3D street painting and has participated in many international street art festivals, where he has won numerous awards. He has presented his paintings across Europe, in Russia, in the USA, Latin America, Thailand, China, in the Middle East and in South Africa. He has worked for many well-known companies such as Disney, Universal Cinema, Amazon, Coca Cola, Samsung, Unilever, Warner Bros and many more. To date he has taken part in over 200 events of various kinds as a street painter. He is the first artist to combine 3D street painting with animated videos (video mapping) and his work has already been shown at three different art biennials and other contemporary art exhibitions. He was awarded the title of Maestro Madonnaro in Grazie di Curtatone and won first prize in the world's most important competition for 3D street art in Dubai in March 2017. In addition to the local matador "TUBUKU", consisting of the two artists Jarek Masztalerz and Alex Weigandt, there are since 2015 in a 2-year rhythm special street art events under a certain motto. For this purpose, national and international artists came/come together at the invitation of the city of Krefeld to bring some new artistic highlights to the silk city on the Lower Rhine. Always interesting, new projects that not only beautify the city, but also in one way or another promote communication among residents and with the artists. 2015 Wood Art Gallery , Talring 52, 47802 Krefeld I 2017 Rhine Side Gallery , Am Zollhof, 47829 Krefeld I 2019 Down Town Gallery , Hansastraße, 47799 Krefeld I 2021 Silk City Gallery , Seidenweberhaus, Theaterplatz 1, 47798 Krefeld I 2023 Urban Art Gallery Krefeld , Various locations in Krefeld. TUBUKU I Krefeld I love these events and try to capture and document as much as possible in pictures and words. Since I do this as a hobby and not always the necessary time is available, the individual reports are supplemented gradually. Also, the reports are made through my personal lens and thus with my own interpretation. As far as it is possible for me, I supply information, which I received from the artists themselves. However, everyone should look at the images and their statements with their own eyes and interpret them according to their own sensibilities. Just as it is intended street art art. Under Street Art , one understands various art forms, which are quite permanently attached or created in the urban area. Since about 2005, the term street art or street art as a valid designation of this art form. The artists want to communicate with certain quite different groups of people. Here the picture is the main component, even if the artists have a recognizable signatures. The street artist wants to use his art to express his opinion on a certain topic that is important to him. Besides murals and posters, stencil paintings and sculptures also occur. In both areas, there are a large number of gifted artists whose works are, in my opinion, worth dedicating a story to them. In contrast, graffiti draws attention to itself through artful nameplates with a high recognition value. Graffiti serves primarily to mark territory. Joseph Pearce, for example, is of the opinion that graffiti can be 100% art, but can also be considered defacement or vandalism if a writing ("tag") is simply sprayed randomly on an old wall without any meaning. Most of the time, these forms of writing are illegal, especially in public places and on trains, for example. However, in almost all large places, this spraying is now accepted as a great, unstoppable culture. For each topic there is then detailed information based on the artwork. Just check back from time to time. Since the Kiefernstraße in Düsseldorf is such a comprehensive work of art, I have dedicated a separate bullet point to it. Due to time-consuming editing and research, the individual houses go online bit by bit. Krefeld Streetart weiter lesen Please note that this page is under construction. In other words, they are put together as if by a camera and output in a photo format, from where they can be further edited or processed as desired. So you have to think carefully at every point, often puzzling over how to bring these components together in such a way that the image you have imagined is rendered in the end. I hadn't thought so much about perspective, lighting and everything else involved in photography before. So I'm also learning for my camera, which I really like. For example, possible shooting projects can be played out without ‘real’ models. The figures and the rest of the content are subject to a fee. However, if you make use of the freebies on offer and think carefully about how you can combine and use what, you can achieve good results even with less money. With increasing experience and improved knowledge, you can also intervene in the design of the content yourself in a variety of ways. My aim is not necessarily always to create the best possible photographic reality. In addition to exploring the 1001 possibilities of DAZ Studio, my focus is more on conveying/transporting fantasy, feelings and thoughts. As I am rather dark by nature, my pictures are often located in the dark area. Every now and then there is a colourful or rather sweet outlier, true to the motto: ‘Don't think you know what's coming next.’ I like to add a few appropriate words or little stories to my pictures. Karsten Breidenbroich I MalKarsten I Streetart I Graffiti I Lifestyle I Kunst I Urbex Art I Kiefernstraße I Düsseldorf I Kieferngoes40 Seitenanfang Anfang MalKarsten Mehr MalKarsten Karsten Breidenbroich - MalKarsten return I just want to paint Anfang MalKarsten "Hi, you want to know something about "my Arab house" in the Kiefernstraße? With pleasure :-). Can I call you back tonight?" It was that easy to get in touch with Karsten Breidenbroich, the artist of the Kiefern 12. It then took a few days for the call to come about. In an open, relaxed conversation, Karsten not only told me about the "making off" of his house, but also a little about himself, his way of painting and the fact that he was born in Krefeld and lived there for many years before it pulled him to Düsseldorf on the other side of the Rhine. If you want to know a little more about MalKarsten, who went out to paint the world colorfully, take a lookhere: You can find the history of the origins of the "Arab House" in the picture gallery. Simply click on the pictures. Thanks also to the photographer Jürgen-Wintermantel-Menze, who accompanied Karsten in the design of "his" house in the Kiefernstrasse and allowed me to use his pictures for this report. A report that would not have come about without these pictures. Mehr MalKarsten Seitenanfang Anfang MalKarsten Mehr MalKarsten Karsten Breidenbroich, a multi-talent in multicolor "My own opinion, colors and daylight - that's important to me." says MalKarsten in an IInterview of the NiederRhein EDITION ONLINE. His smallest picture is 70 x 100 cm. "Someday I'll paint the whole world." In September 2016, he at least created an oversized image with the huge house facade at Kiefernstrasse 12. Karsten paints people and animals as well as abstract motifs. I could read in various interviews that he was difficult to reach. He wants to be found. Constant presence and availability are not his thing. You wouldn't just find his works on the World Wide Web at the push of a button, he'd rather pack up his works and drive to the interested party. Okay, that's what I thought. My real goal is to find out more about the artwork of the pine trees. Who painted what, why and when. Can't be that hard, I thought to myself. Almost every house has a sign with the name of the artist under the house number, I ask politely, maybe I'll be lucky. As mentioned above, with Karsten it was really easy. Unexpectedly comes often :-). So I was not only able to put together the "Making Off" of Kiefernstraße 12, but also learned some personal things and just had an interesting and friendly conversation with a special person. But who exactly is this MalKarsten, who you obviously like to meet in paint-splattered clothes? Born in 1972 and raised in Krefeld, Karsten Breidenbroich already excelled creatively in elementary school. In the musical field he started with a xylophone and later ended up with the guitar, which he obviously still enjoys playing today. In the course of growing up, it became clear to him that he wanted to turn his artistic talent into a profession. He first studied business administration at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences, then interior design, and after graduating he moved to Düsseldorf, where he worked with great enthusiasm in his learned profession as a freelance interior designer for 10 years. But then about 11 years ago his father fell ill with cancer. He accompanied him through this difficult time, got into brooding himself and recognized how important it is to let people who are important to you feel this and not to wait until it might be too late. Around at the same time, Karsten heard about Zombie Boy, a well-known Canadian performance artist and model, who also had to cope with a heavy blow of fate. Like his father, he suffered from cancer. After receiving the diagnosis, he would not only have modeled but gradually had his entire body tattooed. Six months later the cancer was gone. Impressive ... It was around this time that Karsten made the decision to retire from his regular working life and turn to art. Thankfully, his father had since recovered. Zombie Boy sadly passed away after falling from his balcony in August 2018. Karsten regrets not being able to meet him in person, but Zombie Boy liked his pictures on Facebook, one apparently the day before his death. Karsten's face, tattooed with a skull and crossbones, served as a template for one of his gloomy images. Soul mates among artists... Karsten Breidenbroich became MalKarsten , who obviously still wonders when he is approached in a Düsseldorf pub and asked for a photo together. MalKarsten is actually much better known than he realizes himself. One of the first headlines that struck me, , was that his clients would include Sylvester Stallone, Mickey Rourke, and Cher. So of course I got curious. Karsten says that he exhibited his paintings at a bar in his area, where a fashion designer from Fashion Week noticed him. His pictures should line the catwalk and he should paint jackets backstage. The fashion designer of Sylvester Stallone, who launched his fashion label "Sly Inc" in 2012, Silvia Fritz, impressed Karsten's works. Without further ado, she sent a few photos to Sly, who immediately phoned Karsten, invited him to LA and introduced him to the artist scene there. A jacket with Sly's likeness on it was a welcome consideration. It was of course a fascinating encounter for MalKarsten, although he admits that his heart was pounding. The fact that he was in LA on his 45th birthday of all times makes the trip all the more exciting. Nina Hagen, who had her birthday on the same day, was also present when the jacket was handed over to Sylvester Stallone. At the fashion week there, Karsten was able to enjoy all artistic freedom. Under the wing of Sly, he explored the LA art scene and embellished a number of clothes with his art. Sly gave Cher a second painting job. Jackets for Kate Perry, Mickey Rourke and Rolf Möller followed. Since the acrylic colors used are waterproof and washable at 40°, nothing stands in the way of the further production of individual designer pieces, just an original "MalKarsten", Not exactly cheap, but extraordinary, even for the normal citizens affordable. I especially love his paintings with the so vivid onesmonkey portraits . On Mother's Day 2021, Karsten visited the Krefeld Zoo to conduct studies on the nature of these interesting animals, as he frankly told me on the phone. I would be happy to come. Unfortunately, I was unable to accept this special invitation due to a private appointment, but this shows his openness towards his audience. ...and what inspires such an exceptional artist as Karsten from Düsseldorf ? Life itself, he says. With him everything sounds so simple, so unpretentious and yet his works are fascinating in so many different ways. Moving from one place to another he finds enough inspiration, he explains. Sometimes, sometimes not, but not that bad. Working out an image and its meaning by means of an attached text is not his thing. "If I want to say something, then I speak, the language is quite clear for that." This statement absolutely fascinates me, as it gives me the opportunity to focus more freely on a work of art. This is how MalKarsten became an insider tip not only in the US artist scene. Karsten lives on the 3rd floor of an old building in downtown Düsseldorf. This house has a beautiful courtyard and hall, once intended for the master students of the art academy. Originally 4 floors were used artistically, currently there are 2 floors. In addition to Karsten Breidenbroich, a close former employee of the Düsseldorf artist Jörg Immendorf lives there, while the other apartments are occupied by fellow citizens who are not artistically active. He paints his pictures in 3D, his feelings are intense. "Even covering a wooden frame with the canvas triggers a feeling of happiness in me. When I paint, I feel that I'm alive. At some point I'll paint the whole world." He has already painted his way to America, he will manage the rest. His first trousers decorated with splashes of color may have been a coincidence, but this colorful design has now become his trademark. Ultimately, that's exactly what makes him happy, says Karsten. The painting and not the money. Well, his unique pieces of clothing certainly make the ruble roll, but ultimately it translates back into color and material, creating new art and new joy. If money were the most important thing for him, he would paint it, he explained in an interview with Petra Verhasselt for the NiederRhein Edition online last year. His partner Spoo, also an artist, advertising specialist and communication designer sums it up. The money earned is only an "intermediate medium", without which artistic work is not possible. After all, canvas and paint don't grow on trees. But the art that Karsten creates is imperishable, it is eternal. The appreciation that people have for his art is the most important factor for Karsten. He makes it clear that the established art market, for example, doesn't really matter to him. He paints, and that's good. He also paints for you and me, a wall, a t-shirt, talk to him, it will be a special experience worth every penny. Spontaneously I can think of a saying that is attributed to Albert Einstein: "Creativity is intelligence having fun." I have nothing more to add :-). Krefeld, June 2021 Sources/items: 1. In 2012, the extremely destructive hurricane "Sandy" paralyzed the power supply of the 69th Division of the US National Guard in New York. The well-known lingerie manufacturer has had its damsels of heaven run the annual fashion show at US National Guard headquarters since 2009. But no electricity and a severe cold snap caused the show to falter badly. Not only the scantily clad models, but also the spectators certainly didn't want to enjoy the enchanting clothing in a Siberian ambience. So the Victoria's Secret team got down to work and supplied the building with the necessary electricity in less than a day. They set up 500-watt dynamos and breathed new life into the elevators, among other things, so that the show was a (usual) success for everyone involved. When I first skimmed the article, I thought it was a joke, but it must have been the truth. Seems like the lingerie manufacturer doesn't just sell "underwear" ;-). Reason enough for me to deal with the history of its origins: At the end of the 70s there was Roy Raymond, who had just received his doctorate from the "Graduate School of Business", who obviously had a problem with red ears, which always occurred when he was woman wanted to buy pretty lingerie. So he created a boutique for lingerie in the Victorian style, modeled on his parents' house, where men could buy magical underwear for their loved ones in a relaxed, stress-free atmosphere. In 1977, with an $80,000 loan from his bank, he created the first Victoria's Secret shop in Palo Alto, California, in the style of a 19th-century salon. It is said to have been furnished with heavy velvet curtains, historic wardrobes and valuable oriental carpets. His idea was a resounding success, he made half a million dollars in profit and set up four more stores and designed a mail order catalog over the next 5 years. I don't quite understand why he then sold his entire chain to Leslie Wexner, the founder of the multi-billion dollar women's clothing chain "The Limited", in 1982 for only four million. Unfortunately, the life of this interesting man ended tragically. Several attempts to set up a new business, for example in the area of children's clothing or toupees, failed, as did his marriage. In 1993, Roy Ramond died by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. "The Limited" worth around 11 million on the stock exchange in 2012, continued the magical lingerie idea extremely successfully. In the years that followed, more and more shops were opened and the mail order business expanded. In 2012, there were more than 1,000 Victoria's Secret branded stores in North America alone. The shop opened in London and Asia in 2012 with the start of the Summer Olympics. Approximately 390 million catalogs were mailed. Obviously, the secret of the huge success also lies in the winged models. The heavenly feeling paired with unusual, beautiful lingerie is not only successful in rather prudish America. The top-class annual shows attract a lot of attention, not least because of the world-famous models. Professional advertising supports the concept. In 1999, for example, the event was broadcast live from Times Square via the Internet. The advertisement for this ran during the half-time break of the Superbowl, resulting in 1.5 million viewers. 1.5 million people who watched the scantily clad angels on the runway. A remarkable success. Only in 2004 was the show canceled once. According to unconfirmed statements, Justin Timberlake's "Nipplegate Affair" was the trigger. He probably looked too closely at Janet Jackson's chest during the performance. Oh well, ... Another highlight was the first diamond-studded brassiere in 1996, which Claudia Schiffer only wore for the catalogue. It was said to be worth $1 million. In 2000, a diamond-studded bra worn by Giselle Bundchen even just for the catalogue, worth $15 million, even made it into the Guinness Book of World Records. In 2001, Heidi Klum floated down the catwalk for the first time in one of these sparkling bras. The precious part was valued at $12.5 million. Of these treasures, only a 42-carat Harry Winston diamond was sold, which certainly did not diminish the level of awareness of the Victoria's Secret brand. But in 2021, Victoria's Secret will also have to change its attitude towards the ideal image of women. The head of the company, Martin Waters, explains that from now on they want to take care of the cultivated women instead of the scantily clad angels, because he currently doesn't think angels are (any longer) relevant. New faces for her lingerie include US soccer player Megan Papinoe, freestyle skier Eileen Gu and producer and author Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The plus-size model Paloma Elsesser is also there. Models like Heidi Klum, Claudia Schiffer, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campell or Alessandra Ambrosia were a thing of the past. Men's ideals should no longer be of fundamental interest, but what women want. A new campaign has been launched: "VS Collective" focuses on women who have made outstanding achievements and do not stand for special body dimensions. Paloma Elsesser, the plus-size model, has signed with Victoria's Secret in hopes of helping to revolutionize the definition of "sexy" and change the world. These are certainly commendable intentions and also send important signals due to the outstanding position of the company. However, one should not forget that it is far from possible to depict the entire spectrum of women in the world. But Victoria's Secret still sees itself as a high-end boutique and not as an everyday department store.
